The idea of this conversation, held at IDAES on May 7, 2008, was to review the trajectory of the Colombian anthropologist Arturo Escobar, but not so much addressing it as an individual life story, but as an example of knowledge sociology. The proposal was to investigate how an intellectual who, in this case, moved from Latin America to the United States, begins to think with certain theoretical bodies, to work in collaboration with certain activists and to have a series of concerns as intense as they are dissimilar. from political ecology and critical studies of globalization and development to social movements and new technologies.
